3 PM SCREENING - OVERWHELMING DISCOVERIES

Lyric nonverbal cinema discovers intriguing relationships with seaweed in the Pacific Ocean of Chile, while a short experimental documentary based in the mid-Atlantic Ocean explores the relationship between human and non-human in the age of mass extinction.

5:30 PM SCREENING - CULTURES OF RESISTANCE AND RESILIENCE
The Blue Hall, New York University Abu Dhabi Arts Center


Lebanese activists defend their intimacy with the land by opposing the building of a dam in this screening's short film. Meanwhile, the feature film is set in the Amazon basin between Brazil, Peru, and Colombia, where the resilience of indigenous peoples confronting climate change and injustice resonate for the whole world to learn from.

7:30 PM SCREENING - THE ECOLOGICAL CONSCIOUS RISING

The Blue Hall, New York University Abu Dhabi Arts Center

A classic of Arab environmental cinema from Arab auteur Omar Amiralay is coupled with two unique examples of environmental cinema activism from an environmental filmmaking collective in Jordan and an important environmental film festival in Lebanon.

7:30 PM SCREENING - LISTENING TO LOSS: WATER AND CLIMATE CHANGE
The Blue Hall, New York University Abu Dhabi Arts Center


The feature film explores a sound installation artist’s existential journey between fire and water on landscapes of the coal mining region of eastern India. It will be introduced by its filmmakers and NYUAD professor Vikram Divecha in a recorded presentation. This is preceded by two shorts: a poetic film mourning the loss of fish and fishermen of Egypt's Lake Qarun, and another mourning the loss of a forest leading to a waterfall.
